Separate races are held for the three different size classes. Race winners are determined by two factors, form (pose) and natural ability (paired with a splash of randomness).
Here are examples of a Lepitaur racing pose:
~Animal must be going from left to right as fast as possible.
~Ideally, facing either in perfect profile or directly at the camera.
~In stretch pose, animal must be stretched as muck as possible.
~In folded pose, all four legs are tucked tightly under the body.
After the best "form" are picked out (at least three per race), natural ability among them comes into play. For each of these "best," a random percentage is generated (using a computer, dice, or other method). These animals' features can add or detract from their final numbers. (Added numbers are advantageous, subtracted are hinderance.)
~Stocky build -20%
~Lean build +20%
~Short legs -25%
~Long legs +25%
~Long tail +15%
~Other tails 0
~Light pupils -15%
~Mane -15%
Note: Because dice are rolled, an animal who is at a natural disadvantace can still win over a "better" one. This simulates the luck involved, and because animals can have their good days and their bad ones.
Additional Rules
Lepitaurs may enter only in their size class.
Modified (hex-painted) Lepitaurs may enter but modifications to make them faster (stretching the legs or something) will be counted against in the final tally, and they must fit into the three normal class groups.
Mixed breeds or hybrids may only enter hybrid races but can earn points by the same scale as pure Lepitaurs.
Points
Race entries are usually accepted for a month and points are awarded depending on the number of entries. (The same picture may not be entered two months in a row.) When ties occur, both entrants get the higher number of points.
When you win, feel free to take a ribbon!
