DEFINITIONS:
A pure line is a Lepitaur breed whose ancestry is purely Lepitaur with no outcrosses to other Catz breedz.
A cross line contains Lepitaurs and another breed or breedz in its family history but must have at least a couple distinctly Lepitaur features.
If curious about selective breeding, you can learn more here: geocities.com/gaealunavenus2/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REQUIREMENTS:
For a selective breed to be accepted it must meet these requirements:
~Have generally Lepitaurish traits (in cross lines, pure lines it obviously does)
~Not have hex painting in the family tree. In other words, anyone with the original breed files should be able to breed a pair and have the offspring follow standards.
~Be at least 6th generation. (Usually it takes no more than 10.)
~Be true breeding. This means that at least 4 out of 5 times, when breeding a pair, you will get unfaulted offspring (adhering to your set standard).
~Have few variations in the standards. Some variation is allowed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ALLOWED CROSSES
There are some breedz out there that should not be used to create Lepitaur cross lines.
What is allowed:
~Any cat breed, including wild catz like lions and bobcats
~Fantasy cat breedz that resemble felines
~Other mammal breedz that are of comparable size to any of the three lepitaur sizes (including ferrets, raccoons, foxes, larger rodents, rabbits, lemurs, etc.)
~Any fantasy breed that is of realistic shape and a size similar to lepitaurs.
~Breedz that have horns, claws, or other "natural" features.
What is not allowed:
~Breedz ith wings
~Breedz that are not quadraped
~Breedz excessively larger or smaller than lepitaurs (like PF Mice or dinosaurs)
~Breedz that are non-mammal

DISTRIBUTING YOUR BREED
The original way (pre-21st century) selective breedz were done was to have a base pair (that is the "Descended from" part of the standard) that is pure breeding and your end result. From them, you breed a group called the "original 8," 4 males and 4 females that are all full points on your standard. You put those up for download. People then download those and breed from them to get their own petz.
For Venitell, since some people don't like downloadable "copy" petz at all, I am permitting an alternative distribution style for those who prefer. That is to have your "descended from" pair and breed from it, but simply adopt out descendents via email.

WHAT TO POST HERE:
For acceptance, you must post the following:
1. Name of your selective breed
2. Pix of the breed in pose and out of pose, and examples of all allowed variations.
3. The name of the breeder(s) involved in developing the breed.
4. (For cross lines) All breedz in the line and where the files can be obtained.
5. The game version (Petz 3, 4, or 5) this breed was developed in. (Remember Petz 5 selective breedz will never be available for Petz 3/4 users, so if you own both games, develop your breed in a lower version rather than Petz 5.)
6. How people can obtain this breed. You can have some up for download AS BREEDING STOCK (not allowed to show copied petz) or adopt them out personally, but include some contact info or a URL.
7. The standards for your breed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
STANDARDS:
Standards must be posted in the following format. Only the * marked traits mean that the animal can be disqualified if not meeting them. They can also be DQ'd if obviously mixed with other breedz outside the base.
(This is an example. This breed doesn't exist.) -- You don't have to include the half points if they are not applicable, but I am listing them here.
"Additional features" include horns, fangs, claws, etc.
The height is taken this way, measured where the neck meets the chest in a full grown (100 on the slider brain) animal. Please take and use this scale, which was created by the Breed Maker's Guild (now closed).
"Traces back to" meant the resulting breed must share at least one common ancestor, usually the last in your line when you declare the breed complete and true breeding. Most often it is a pair.
